A Case of a Rhesus Isoimmunized Woman Treated with Antenatal Plasma Exchanges

Abstract

|
A pregnant woman with high anti-D titer was treated by therapeutic plasma
exchanges. A total of 17.5 liters of plasma was removed over a five-week period (31th
week to 36th week of gestation).
The anti-D titer was same as or greater than the titer of the beginning of the
exchange, but amniotic fluid spectrophotometry values declined from midzone to lower
zone of Liley during the period of plasma exchanges.
This attempt was made to control the rhesus disease by plasma exchanges alone.
No serious complications were encountered on the mother or the baby during the
plasma exchange.
